Streaming on Attendify using RTMP

If you're working with AV (Audio/Visual) company or producing the audio and video content you'll stream on your own, RTMP support enables you to easily broadcast a live video stream to Attendify in seconds using Attendify Streaming.

The purpose of this article is to help Attendify customers learn how to set up an RTMP broadcast with Attendify. To that end, the article is broken down into the following parts:

  1. Attendify’s RTMP Settings

  2. Creating an RTMP Broadcast

  3. Simulive experience

❗ Please note that using Attendify Streaming and RTMP requires the purchase of Attendify Streaming.

  1. Attendify’s RTMP Settings

Setting up the broadcast via RTMP in Attendify is incredibly easy and takes a few steps:

  1. Add a new session to your event agenda

  2. Under Live Streaming & Video select Attendify as your video source

  3. Under Stream Type select RTMP Stream

    4. Click Save at the bottom

Once the session is saved we’ll automatically generate a unique stream key and RTMP URLs for your event that will appear as a pop-up and will also be available within the session at any time. You'll also be able to access them export all of the RTMP-specific links into one file using the Archives feature and “RTMP Links” report.

    2. Creating an RTMP Broadcast

If you're working with a professional AV company to film, record, and produce the video and audio content, your AV company will know exactly what to do with the RTMP links Attendify provides. Just share the links with them and you’ll be up and streaming professionally produced videos to your event’s audience in no time.

If you’re creating your own audio and video content to stream, you’ve got lots of options for software tools without needing to get overly technical. One of the most popular tools is OBS Studio, which is free to use and can easily be set up to livestream to Attendify, but there are also many other options available.

    3. Simulive experience

One common use case for RTMP is broadcasting a pre-recorded session within Attendify’s virtual event experience, which enables your speakers, or other experts, to seamlessly switch over to participate in a live Q&A with your remote attendees. This process can be tricky to pull off with basic video conferencing tools, like Zoom, but it can be accomplished smoothly and with relative ease, using OBS or similar tools.

We always recommend working with a professional AV company, when possible. That said, broadcasting pre-recorded video and/or transitioning to simultaneous live broadcasts is manageable with limited technical experience. See this tutorial video for an accessible guide to using OBS for self-service, but we’d advise you to please proceed with caution when trying this approach for the first time.
